Sharing the workflow we built for our legal team to review contracts using Qomplement. This handles about 200 contracts/month for us.\n\n## The Workflow\n\nStep 1: Intake\nContracts arrive via email or SharePoint. Our admin uploads batches weekly.\n\nStep 2: Processing\nWe set up 4 templates covering our main contract types:\n- Master Service Agreement (MSA)\n- Statement of Work (SOW)\n- Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)\n- Vendor Agreement\n\nStep 3: Key Clause Extraction\nFor each contract, we extract:\n- Parties and effective date\n- Term and termination provisions\n- Indemnification clauses\n- Limitation of liability\n- Governing law and jurisdiction\n- Payment terms\n- IP ownership clauses\n- Confidentiality obligations\n\nStep 4: Risk Scoring\nWe built a simple scoring system:\n- Flag if indemnification is uncapped\n- Flag if governing law is unfavorable\n- Flag if auto-renewal clause exists\n- Flag if non-compete exceeds 2 years\n\nStep 5: Review Queue\nExtracted data goes into a review spreadsheet via Excel filling. Lawyers review flagged items and approve/request changes.\n\n## Results\n- Average review time dropped from 45 min to 15 min per contract\n- Catch rate for problematic clauses improved (we were missing ~10% with manual review)\n- Lawyers spend time on judgment calls, not reading every line\n\nHappy to detail any step further if people are interested.

Really well thought out. The risk scoring step is brilliant. How do you handle contracts where clauses don’t match expected patterns?

We added ‘alternative patterns’ to templates — multiple ways a clause might be labeled. Catches about 90% of variations.
