Side project: I built a tool that extracts metadata from academic papers (title, authors, abstract, references, methodology, key findings) using Qomplement’s API.
Fed it 500 papers from our research database and it correctly extracted metadata from 94% of them. The remaining 6% were mostly papers with unusual formatting or heavily graphical layouts.
The whole pipeline is ~200 lines of Python. Qomplement does the heavy lifting — my code just handles the orchestration and output formatting.
Thinking about open-sourcing it if there’s interest. Would be useful for anyone doing systematic reviews or literature analysis.

Please open source this! We do systematic reviews for clinical research and extracting metadata from papers is one of the most tedious parts of the process.
I’d definitely star that repo. Would you consider adding BibTeX output as an option?
Both great suggestions. I’ll clean up the code and push it to GitHub this weekend. BibTeX output is easy to add — will include it.
